Shah Rukh Khan, known as ‘King Khan’ and ‘Baadshah of Bollywood’, was born on 2 November 1965 in Delhi, Capital city of India. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Deewana. In the beginning of his career, he was known for his villain- roles but with time and series of romantic movies he soon became the King of Romance. Newsweek named Khan as one of their fifty most powerful people globally in 2008 and called him “the world’s biggest movie star”. He was also awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2005.

He has given a plethora of films to his massive fan base to cherish and remember him by. Even after watching his rom-coms on air many times, we can’t get away from TV.

1. Veer Zara (2004)

This movie proved that love is not bounded by land or religion. This masterpiece of Yash Chopra depicts the magical chemistry of Preity Zinta as a daughter of Pakistani politician and Shahrukh Khan who is an Indian Air Force officer. After crossing paths in India, he went to Pakistan to meet his beloved but then he was imprisoned in Pakistan for life due to the false accusation of being a spy and was separated from his lover for 22 years.

This movie won Filmfare Awards for Best Film, Best Dialogues, Best Story, and Best Lyricist and received numerous nominations in other categories.

2. Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayege (1995)

Aditya Chopra’s directional debut DDLJ shows the magnificent love story of Raj (SRK) and Simran (Kajol). They both belong to very different families, and Simran is going to get married according to her fathers will, so Raj decides to win hearts of her family member. This was his biggest romantic hit in the career, who made the audience more obsessed with the King Of Romance.

10 Filmfare Awards and the National Film Award proved its popularity. It was one of only three Hindi films in the reference book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die.

3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998)

This film has the best iconic love triangle in the Bollywood history between SRK as Rahul, Kajol as Anjali and Rani Mukherjee as Tina. This marks the Karan Johar’s directorial debut and hit the right notes with its effective presentation and catchy songs. The blockbuster had a strong supporting cast that included Salman Khan, Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher and Sana Saeed. This movie sets an inspiration for every lover and makes us remember that being friends is the first and the most important step for being in love.

It won 8 Filmfare Awards and was the only film to win all four acting awards (Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress).

4. Kal Ho Na Ho (2003)

This rom com is marinated with a bit tragedy, as our unstoppable SRK plays the role of dying man and want to make sure that love of his life (Preity Zinta) will live happily after he dies. Kal Ho Naa Ho was released with the promotional tagline, “A Story of a Lifetime … In a Heartbeat”. This movie should not be missing this list.

It was awarded with two National Film Awards, eight Filmfare Awards, thirteen International Indian Film Academy Awards.

5. Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1997)

A perfect romantic story needs to involve some twists and turns in it!! This movie portrays Shah Rukh Khan as Rahul who keeps himself away from destiny and love, but the more he runs from it sooner he falls in love. Madhuri Dixit and Karishma Kapoor make this movie more magical.

The film was nominated for eleven awards at the 43rd Filmfare Awards and picked up eight trophies. Screen reported that Dil To Pagal Hai opened to a “record business with 100 percent collections in the first week all over India.

6. Devdas(2002)

This movie is based on the 1917 novel of same name. Sanjay Leela Bhansalidirects this movie with SRK, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit as the starcast. Devdas (Shah Rukh Khan) was born with silver spoon in his mouth, but soon turns into the slave of alcohol because he could not marry the girl he loves and watch her marrying some other man.

It was the most expensive Indian film ever made at the time. It won several awards, including five National Film Awards and eleven Filmfare Awards

7. Mohabbatein (2000)

The two stars of Bollywood make this movie a super hit, Amitabh Bachchan and ShahRukh Khan. Raj (SRK) proved that love cannot be destroyed or faded even after death. When his beloved commits suicide because of his strict father’s principle. He got into the his gurukul as a teacher and his guidance made three other couples realized their love.

It won four trophies at the 46th Filmfare Awards. It also received three Bollywood Movie Awards, four International Indian Film Academy Awards, and one Screen Award.

8. Rab Ne Banadi Jodi (2008)

Love is beautiful in every form, even after arrange marriage its magic is irresistible. Anushka sharma (makes her Bollywood debut with this film) who is married to a simple working guy, who turns out to be fun loving for his wife but in different look to win her heart. 

It was nominated for many awards in International Indian Film Academy Awards and Filmfare Awards. Won two of them in latter one.

9. Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012)

Jab Tak Hai Jaan is a 2012 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film directed by Yash Chopra. Jab Tak Hai Jaan is his final film before his death in October 2012. The story revolves around Samar Anand (Khan) a bomb disposal expert whose diary falls into the hands of an intern Akira Rai (Anushka Sharma) and she knows his struggle.

10. Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (2006)

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Kirron Kher. Unhappy in their respective marriages, an ex-footballer and a teacher find true love in each other, but guilt surrounds them. After breaking up with each other, they both had a divorce with their partners but fate makes them meet again after 3 years.

The film released worldwide on 11 August 2006. . It was a success internationally, especially in the United States.
